Level 5 Certificate in Primary School Physical Education Specialism
Want to raise the standards of PE and Sport in your primary school?
This is a nationally recognised qualification that aims to up skill primary school teachers to improve the overall delivery of the physical education curriculum within primary schools. On successful completion of this qualification, delegates will be able to assist in raising the standards within primary school physical education teaching.
Equivalent to: HND and foundation degree (14 credits)
Who is the course for?
- Teachers
- Higher level teaching assistants
- Teaching assistants – Need to have extensive experience in supporting teachers across all years and key stages in delivering PE.
- Coaches – Need a minimum of five years experience of assisting teachers across Key Stage 1 and 2. Required to have a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in any sport they assist the teachers with.
Content includes:
- National Curriculum and expectations in PE
- Good to outstanding teaching in PE
- Developing an engaging curriculum
- Assessment for learning and pupil progression
- Planning and programming units of work
- Health and safety in PE
Course Length: 141 hours which includes 45 tutored hours and 96 independent learning hours
