YEAR 6 ‘BEST’ A&B COMPETITION

This competition was held at Beddington Cricket Club. Entries were very strong with 14 teams entered. Unfortunately, although the weather forecast was promising, rain set in half way through the afternoon and play had to be abandoned before all the matches had been completed. This meant that Westbourne & Cheam Common had to play a deciding match at a later date. Thanks go to students from Wallington Grammar who helped with some umpiring for part of the afternoon.

 The delayed results were - 1st – Cheam Common, 2nd – Avenue, 3rd – Westbourne

Cheam Common progressed to the Surrey district finals and Avenue played at the London Youth Games finals

YEAR 6 GIRLS KWICK CRICKET COMPETITION

This competition was held at Sutton Cricket Club with no weather problems at all! Once the teams had all assembled, it was apparent that there was a considerable variety in the level of experience of some of the girls. However, with some coaching and guidance, this did not affect the games, with bowling technique improving rapidly and the number of 4’s and 6’s increasing steadily! The final match to decide the winner was very close and CPF managed to prevail by a narrow margin of 4 runs.

RESULTS 1st – Cheam Park Farm A,  2nd – St Elphege’s, 3rd -  Avenue

Cheam Park Farm played at Epsom College at the Surrey district finals on 20/06/17 and St Elphege’s attended the LYG finals at Old Actonians on 20/06/17

YEAR 3/4 GIRLS DIAMOND CRICKET FESTIVAL

This festival was held at Wallington Girls school as a follow on from the Cricket Activator course students had undertaken earlier in the year. It was an enjoyable and useful afternoon for the girls. The afternoon started with a scatter ball game as a warm-up. Then followed a triangular tournament in a diamond cricket game with more skills practices whilst teams were not competing. Many thanks to Wallington staff & 6th form leaders who always run such a fun event and to the staff of the attending schools who brought their pupils along.
