The Sutton Schools Sports Partnership aims to offer a wide range of sports and activities to both primary and secondary schools across the borough. In line with the current push for 30 Active Minutes in schools, our mission looks to increase the number of young people exposed to competitive sport by offering festivals and B team competitions where ever there is capacity, alongside the main pathway sports that are part of the School Games programme and those that lead to the London Youth Games. So far this year at primary level, which encompasses pupils from years 3-6, we have offered festivals in Quicksticks, Tag Rugby, Hi5 Netball, Handball (2), Gymnastics, Dance and Basketball. B team competitions have encompassed Sports Hall Athletics, Hi5 Netball & Girls Football. For the first time this year we have also introduced a Y6 Handball competition due to the strength of this sport at secondary level in in the borough, supported by Carshalton Boys Sports College, Carshalton Girls and Glenthorne High Schools. Competitions have also been held in Cycling and Futsul. In addition to our termly Inclusive ‘I Can’ events we delivered a very successful Panathlon competition where 3 schools went on to represent Sutton at further events in London.
