In January we added a couple of extra primary cross country events in place of the postponed SHA events. Beddington Cricket Club turned out to be an ideal venue; a 750m flat circuit where runners are in full view at all times. Races were offered to pupils from Y3-6 and 15 schools took advantage of the two additional events. Athletes were awarded medals for The first 3 finishers in each heat, and teachers were each asked to nominate two ’star runners’ awarded for effort, determination, most improved etc. This is definitely an event we would like to continue next year – with focus on Y3 pupils in preparation for borough cross country in the autumn. Many thanks go to Carew Academy who provided some brilliant leaders for one of the days. Huge gratitude go to Beddington CC and Carshalton FC for the use of their grounds.
